Count Density refers to the number of plastic particles found per cubic meter of water. The larger the circle on the map, the greater the number of plastic particles found at that particular site.

2000 Voyage Summary

During the 2000 voyage, the Manta trawl was used to collect surface samples. The sample locations were expanded from the original 1999 sample sites further west into the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre and further south near the Northwest Hawaiian Islands.
