Ocean Research Priorities Plan (ORPP)

The Ocean Research Priorities Plan (ORPP), now called Charting the Course for Ocean Science in the United States: Research Priorities for the Next Decade, is a draft document that outlines the national ocean research priorities for the United States for the next ten years. It will describe a vision for U.S. ocean science and technology, highlight key areas of interaction of our society and the ocean, and identify critical ocean research priorities for these areas. All interested parties are encouraged to review the document and provide input during the 45-day public comment period (scheduled to close October 20, 2006).

The first draft comment period on the ORPP took place earlier this year and accumulated into a Public Workshop in Denver, CO on 18-20 of April 2006. AMRF Board Member, Duane Laursen, and Assistant to the Director of Operations, Danae Werthmann, attended. Based on their participation and recommendations, AMRF submitted a comment for this Plan draft below.
