Our Partners

Wayfinder Society is packed with lessons and action items designed by the world’s most respected plastic pollution solutions experts.

Peak Plastic Foundation (PPF) unites advocacy efforts to produce intersectional stories and campaigns for strategic outcomes. Plastic pollution is a pervasive global problem with severe environmental, human health and human rights impacts. The films that PPF creates allow Wayfinders to see these impacts through striking on-the-ground visuals and through the stories told by people who are affected the most. PPF takes Wayfinders to the next level with their thought provoking campaigns and we are stoked to have them as a partner!

FracTracker Alliance provides timely and provocative data, ground-breaking analyses, maps, and other visual tools to help advocates, researchers, and the concerned public better understand the harms posed by fossil fuel extraction. FracTracker’s interactive resources take Wayfinders on a virtual journey, connecting extraction to plastics production.

The Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research is Algalita’s sister non-profit leading the charge on making plastic pollution research equipment and tools open-source and accessible. The Institute is dedicated to expanding knowledge surrounding the impact of plastic pollution in our environment. Currently equipped with two state of the art microscopes, the team focuses on micro and nano plastics and their threat to the Biosphere worldwide.

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. For decades they have been training coastal defenders to successfully protect their communities and natural environment from the harms of plastic pollution. The Wayfinder Society is excited to provide you access to Surfrider’s amazing resources and expertise. The Surfrider Foundation is a perfect partner for the Wayfinder Society. Remember to enjoy the natural environment you are working hard to protect!

Born out of the minds of a small group of surfers, ocean lovers and environmentalists, Bureo is on a mission to protect the ocean by scaling a radically transparent model to eliminate fishing net pollution. By using disruptive innovation to inspire change and create tangible positive impacts, they are a great addition to the Wayfinder Society expert mentor team. Their passion to solve plastic pollution will help give Wayfinders guided drift throughout their journey.

The fossil fuel, petrochemical, and plastics industries are all interconnected. Their operations generate pollution that is extremely harmful to people in frontline and fenceline environmental justice communities. We’ve partnered with Fenceline Watch to help educate Wayfinders about the fight against plastic pollution that is happening far upstream. Fenceline Watch is dedicated to the eradication of toxic multigenerational harm on communities living along the fenceline of industry.

Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) is a worldwide alliance of more than 800 grassroots groups, non-governmental organizations, and individuals in over 90 countries working to promote zero waste systems and to fight environmental injustice from incinerating and dumping waste. GAIA envisions a just, zero waste world built on respect for ecological limits and community rights, where people are free from the burden of toxic pollution, and resources are sustainably conserved, not burned or dumped.  From case-studies to reports and guides, they’re a solid resource and learning tool for any member of the Wayfinder Society!

Based in the the Bahamas, the Bahamas Plastic Movement’s (BPM) mission is to build a community of education and activism around plastic pollution. By empowering Bahamians to contribute to hands on citizen science and environmental leadership, they aim to evolve mindsets and spark cultural practices that will be pivotal in executing changes at the policy level. BPM has been instrumental over the past six years in helping to host Algalita’s annual POPS International youth Summit! They will help bring a fun and vibrant energy to Wayfinder Society.

Many Wayfinders are on a mission to spark innovative solutions to plastic pollution, including our partners at UPSTREAM!  To “make throw away, go away”, UPSTREAM focuses on business innovation, policy creation, and culture change campaigns that make single-use history and show there’s a better way than throw-away!  They aren’t about replacing single-use plastics with other non-plastic single-use items, they are about changing disposable systems to create a reusable world that is healthy for people and the planet.  UPSTREAM’s expertise is indisposable in helping Wayfinders on their journey to create a world where plastic pollution is unthinkable!

The #breakfreefromplastic Movement is a global movement envisioning a future free from plastic pollution.  Break Free From Plastic (BFFP) is made up of more than 8,000 organizations and individual supporters from across the globe.  From fossil fuel extraction, all the way downstream to the ocean, BFFP members are working to end plastic pollution to humans and the environment at every stage along the way.  BFFP provides Wayfinders with a global perspective on plastic pollution as well as steps to take action.  We are stoked to have them on the team!

Bringing the aloha spirit to Wayfinder Society, the Kōkua Hawai’i Foundation is a grassroots non-profit organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawai’i. Their Plastic Free Hawai’i program focuses on engaging and empowering youth as the seeds of change to preserve and protect the beautiful Hawaiian islands. Algalita and Kōkua have collaborated on multiple plastic pollution prevention youth summits to ensure young leaders have fun and stay stoked while working together to create solutions to plastic pollution!

The Lost Art of Love Letters brings a much needed artistic vibe to the Wayfinder Society! Their Love Letters to the Sea project reminds people that it is ok to acknowledge your emotional connection to nature. It provides Wayfinders with the tools to creatively express themselves to decision makers through writing and sending vibrant letters. This is a awesome and unique project to inform, inspire and influence stakeholders to take action to solve plastic pollution issues. Lost Art of Love Letters has also teamed up with Algalita to bring this artistic project to their POPS International Youth Summit!
