Purpose and Context

This step-by-step resource walks educators through creating three hands-on learning stations: sewing a button, exploring common tools, and building a parallel circuit. Whether used as a pre-activity to prepare students for an On-Campus Fixit Clinic or as a stand alone classroom experience, this toolkit introduces repair as an accessible, practical skill set while helping students understand how everyday items work and how they can be maintained. It invites students to shift from passive consumption to active problem solving, laying the groundwork for deeper engagement in repair, sustainability, and community action!

Instructions

Start by downloading and reading the Educator Guide. Purchase or otherwise gather the required materials as needed for your group size. (Tip: Try finding some common construction or sewing tools second hand or on your local Buy Nothing Group!) Read through the Station Instruction Cards and Student Worksheets too. Plan how you’ll use the kit in your class and have fun!
